Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ - As much as 67.1 per cent of the exports and 50.1 per cent of the imports made by the companies from the Transnistrian region have European Union member states as destination.

According to the Reintegration Policies Bureau, in 2022, the export from the region to EU countries accounted for 67.1 per cent, up by 10.2 per cent against the indexes of the 2021 year – 56.9 per cent. At the same time, the share of the import of goods from EU to the Transnistrian region increased by 4.4 per cent from 45.7 per cent in 2021 to 50.1 per cent in 2022.

The principal European Union countries where more than 80 of the trade exchanges take place are: Romania, Poland, Italy, Germany and Slovakia.

„The effects of the war from Ukraine, as well as the suspension of the work of the border crossing points on the central (Transnistrian) segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border clearly shows the change of the logistic chains and a more pronounced reorientation of the commercial and economic activity from the region to the EU market, as well as the boosting of the cooperation with the right bank of the Dniester river,’’ reads a press release by the Reintegration Policies Bureau.

According to the state register of the legal entities and private entrepreneurs, 2,336 economic agents from the Transnistrian region were registered in subdivisions of the Public Services Agency, of which 1,850 were provisionally registered.
