Foreign partners transfer 12.7 billion lei in grants, loans to Moldova in 2022

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s foreign partners transferred 12.7 billion lei in grants and loans to the state budget in 2022. The European Union’s Delegation in Chisinau unveiled data to this effect today.  

According to data by the Finance Ministry, in 2022, most external funds came on behalf of EU countries and institutions and amounted to 5.5 billion lei (270 million euros). More than a half of this money was disbursed in grants.

„Las year, Moldova received two grants of a cumulative value of 1.7 billion lei on behalf of the European Commission. The government of Germany disbursed a grant worth 805.4 million lei and the one of Romania – 199.9 million lei,’’ the quoted source also said.  

As for the loans, the French Development Agency contributed 1.5 billion lei to Moldova’s state budget and the European Commission and Poland – another 692.4 million lei and, respectively, 387 million lei, the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova said. Also, the European Investment Bank disbursed 153.4 million lei for the Railway of Moldova.
