Responsible people propose changes in natural gas measurement system

Chisinau, 9 Feb. /MOLDPRES/- Representatives of Energocom, Moldovagaz, Moldovatransgaz and Vestmoldtransgaz companies discussed yesterday the transition of the natural gas measurement system from cubic meters, a unit specific to the ex-Soviet space to kWh - applicable on the European market.

Currently, the legislation already provides for the unit of measure kWh. The gas procurements of the last months were carried out in the same unit of measure, but the final consumers received the bills in cubic meters.

The Energocom management proposed that the wholesale (trading) market be decoupled from the distribution market, following the Ukrainian model. However, Moldovagaz supports the idea of a complex approach, with all documentation, including invoices to consumers, transcribed in both measurement units.

"We must understand that the market of the Republic of Moldova is not only for Moldovagaz and Energocom, but that the gas system will also be used by other traders. That is why we are going to adjust all our internal procedures to be Euro-compliant", acting director of Energocom Victor Bînzari said.

"Since Energocom has been procuring non-Russian natural gas, it has daily faced customs and other procedures, complicated from an operational point of view. The clarification of these procedures will bring clarity and more transparency in the transactions carried out, will minimize the divergences in the delivery of natural gas between the purchased, transported and nominated volumes", stated Energocom in a press release.

The cited source also announced that the regulatory authority in Ukraine will be notified to make the Oleksiivka interconnection point, from the north, in the exit direction to the neighboring country functional.
