Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Office to be set up in Moldova

Chisinau, 9 Feb. /MOLDPRES/- Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Office will be set up in Moldova. The decision on its organization was published in the Official Journal today.

The new institution will organize, lead and coordinate the technical investigation activity on the safety of events in air, rail and naval transport. At the same time, the authority will prepare preliminary and final reports in which the causes and circumstances of the transport events will be established and will issue safety recommendations.

The office will be subordinated to the Government, and its activity will be financed from the state budget.

Currently, in our country there is no independent authority to investigate transport incidents from the point of view of safety, which would aim to prevent them.
