Five localities in central Moldova to collaborate in waste management project

Chisinau, February 14 /MOLDPRES/- Mayors of Bucovăț, Scoreni and Zubrești, Strășeni district, and Gura Bâcului, Anenii Noi, today expressed their intention to be part of the working groups on waste management, formed by the Ministry of the Environment. The local public authorities representatives in these localities have announced themselves as agents of change at the local level.
"Pune umarul" initiative group represents 13 town halls. The actions taken at the local level contribute to the creation and development of the waste collection service and the reduction of the number of unauthorized dumps, increasing the level of information of the population to make them aware of the negative impact of the habit of throwing waste in unauthorized places, contributing directly to the quality of health population and the future of the young generation.
Grigore Stratulat, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment welcomed the openness shown by local authorities and expressed support for the implementation of actions to develop regional waste collection services, focused on regional waste management infrastructure that includes: transfer, sorting stations, composting and regional storage, etc. "Discussions will also be continued on the platform of the working group, which is to be created within the ministry to expand the area of communication with representatives of the business environment, authorized in waste management", he said.
In 2023, the construction of the first waste management center will begin in Nisporeni, Călăraşi, Ungheni, focused on the development of infrastructure at the regional level.
