Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) today launched a project titled, Inclusive and Productive Employment in Moldova. The project will be implemented with the financial assistance of the Swiss Confederation.

Attending the event on the project’s launch was ILO Director General Gilbert F. Houngbo, on a visit to Chisinau and ILO Regional Director of Europe and Central Asia Heinz Koller. SECO was represented by a Swiss delegation led by Labour Directorate’s Head Boris Zürcher.

The project’s goal is to promote the employment, especially among the vulnerable residents, including young people, women and in rural communities.

At the same time, the ILO programme on decent work for 2021-2024 is focused on safety at the working place and improvement of the social dialogue. Thus, ILO will back the Local Employment Partnerships (LEP), which creates jobs locally, as well as the National Employment Agency and its territorial offices, in order to improve the labour market’s governance.

To fulfill these measures, the government of Switzerland allocated a budget of 2.1 million dollars, completed with ILO’s contributions in the same sum.
