New government sworn in office in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the new cabinet members today took the oath before President Maia Sandu.   

PM Dorin Recean, the deputy prime ministers and ministers swore to give all strength and ability for Moldova’s flourishing, to observe the Constitution and the laws of the country, to defend the democracy, the fundamental human rights and freedoms, the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Moldova.    

President Maia Sandu said the task of the new government was to give safety to the citizens and to put the country on a track of reconstruction and development, despite the crises. ‘’You have to manage the country’s affairs on a difficult period, marked my multiple crises. The people’s expectations are high; Moldova must not only resist, but also develop. This year and during the upcoming ones, we should rebuild the economy. We need resolute steps to consolidate the country’s security. The government must continue the efforts of cleaning the justice. I am confident that we will maintain peace and order in Moldova,’’ Maia Sandu said. 

In the new cabinet, Nicu Popescu will hold the office of deputy prime minister, foreign affairs and European integration minister and Oleg Serebrian will act as deputy PM for reintegration. Dumitru Alaiba will remain in the position of deputy prime minister, economic development and digitalization minister. The fourth office of deputy PM will be held by Vladimir Bolea, who will lead, in continuation, the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry. Veronica Sireteanu will act as finance minister, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru – as justice minister and Lilia Dabija - as infrastructure and regional development minister. At the same time, Victor Parlicov will be energy minister, Ana Revenco – interior  minister, Anatolie Topala – education and research minister, Ala Nemerenco – health minister, Sergiu Prodan – culture minister, Anatolie Nosatii – defence minister, Alexei Buzu – labour and social protection minister and Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov – environment minister.      

The new government was sworn in office, after it had been given vote of confidence in parliament today.
