Chisinau, February 21 /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) says it will implement programs so that by 2025 in the Republic of Moldova there will be around 20 thousand milking cows with a productivity of up to eight thousand liters per year.

"For us, the development of the livestock sector is a priority, and for this purpose, the World Bank will provide us with the necessary support", the head of MAIA, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea said.

About 25 million dollars will be invested this year in the animal husbandry sector in the Republic of Moldova, to increase the resilience of milk production farms, to improve the conditions of animal maintenance, as well as to equip the farms with specialized equipment and software.

This will be a part of the total amount of 55 million dollars, offered by the World Bank as financial support to our country in the development of the agricultural field, through the Agriculture Governance, Growth and Resilience Investment Project. The mechanism for the distribution of financial sources will be adapted according to the requirements and needs of farmers.

The financing agreement with the World Bank for the launch of the project is to be ratified by late May, and its implementation will begin in the second half of the current year.
