Dollar appreciates, euro depreciates against Moldovan leu

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) has established an exchange rate of 19.99 lei for one euro and 18.76 lei for one dollar for 22 February.

Thus, the euro will cheapen by 0.04 lei and the dollar will appreciate by 0.01 leu.

The Romanian leu will cost 4.06 lei on 22 February, down by 0.01 leu. The Ukrainian hryvnia will cost, in continuation, 0.50 lei. The Russian rouble will preserve its price of 0.25 lei.

According to data unveiled by BNM today, in January 2023, the degree of coverage of the net demand of currency of economic agents through the net supply of currency of private people accounted for 143.4 per cent, against to 113 per cent in December 2022. The net supply of currency of private people decreased by 56.9 million dollars (-19.5 per cent) and the net demand of currency of economic agents decreased even more – by 94.4 million dollars (-36.6 per cent). In these conditions, BNM intervened on the local interbank market through net purchasings in an amount of 118.2 million dollars.
