One year of war: Moldovan parliament stands with Ukrainian people

Chisinau, February 24 /MOLDPRES/- MPs Ion Groza, head of the Moldovan parliamentary delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and Oazu Nantoi, president of the friendship group with Ukraine will participate today in Kyiv in the events dedicated to one year of war launched by Russia against Ukraine, organized by the Supreme Rada of Ukraine.

In the evening, starting at 19:00, the Parliament Square will be illuminated throughout the night in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, and the decorative lighting of the Legislative building will be switched off.

Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine a year ago, the Parliament has been constantly with the Ukrainian people and sent messages of peace. During the year, more than 400 Ukrainian refugees visited the parliamentary institution - children, young people, women, involved in dozens of activities. Exhibitions of drawings by refugee children from Ukraine were organized, including sales for charity. On the International Day of Peace, 43 children from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine painted together the symbols and emotions of peace, guided by fine artist Valeria Barbas. Together with children from Moldova, refugee children and their mothers participated in the program of activities organized by the Legislature on the occasion of Europe Day and the International Day of Child Protection. The situation of refugees in the country was discussed at the hearings and round tables organized by the National Security, Defense and Public Order Commission and the Public Administration and Regional Development Commission.
