Moldovan, Greek presidents approach current situation

Chisinau, March 1. /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu welcomed Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic, to the Presidency today, who is on the first official visit to Chisinau after a break of almost 20 years, the presidential press service has reported.

In the context of the tragedy occurred on Tuesday evening in northern Greece, Maia Sandu sent her condolences. "Unfortunately, last night in Greece there was a tragic train accident in which several people lost their lives. I conveyed my condolences to the relatives of the victims and to the entire Greek people," said the head of state.

At the same time, Maia Sandu thanked President Sakellaropoulou for supporting in our European path. "We discussed our bilateral relations, economic and cultural cooperation, agreeing that we will also increase cooperation in the energy field," said the head of state.

Maia Sandu appreciated the hospitality with which the nearly 20 thousand Moldovans working in Greece were received and mentioned the Moldovan-Hellenic social protection agreement, entered into force in early January, which will allow our citizens to receive pension for the accumulated experience in both countries.
