Moldovan premier has meeting with Romanian President

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/ - Romania will firmly support Moldova’s European agenda, the economy’s reconstruction, reforms’ implementation and the consolidation of the country’s security. At a today’s meeting, Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis reiterated the interest in continuing the joint projects, for the benefit of the citizens from the two states, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The prime minister appreciated Romania’s prompt reaction to Moldova’s needs, highlighting the support which had always amplified the authorities’ response to crises. As example, Dorin Recean emphasized the concrete assistance provided to Moldovan farmers hit by the drought from 2020, as well as the support for overcoming the consequences of the energy crisis of the last winter. At the same time, Dorin Recean pointed out Romania’s backing in the process of getting the status of country candidate for accession to EU. He noted that the Moldovan government was resolute to speed up the process of Moldova’s European integration.
„Moldova and Romania have particularly special relations, more and more solid day after day and Romania’s experience in the process of accession to the European Union is essential. We hope to manage to make progress as quickly as possible, so that, till the end of this year, we start the negotiations on accession to EU and to find ourselves in the great European family as soon as possible,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
The Moldovan prime minister also said that Romania stayed the most important commercial partner of Moldova and the main sales market for the Moldovan products. In the context, the sides discussed opportunities of investments and business provided by the Moldovan market.
President Klaus Iohannis reconfirmed Romania’s commitment to provide every support in the processes of transformation, modernization and reforms’ implementation, in the spirit of the bilateral Strategic Partnership for Moldova’s European integration, based on the community of language, culture and history.
