31st anniversary of outbreak of armed conflict on Dniester

Chisinau, March 2. /MOLDPRES/- Today we mark 31 years since the outbreak of the armed conflict to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova.
On this day, 31 years ago, the armed conflict on the Dniester began, which lasted four months. It left a black mark in the history of our country. According to official data, more than 30 thousand people participated in the conflict. 300 soldiers and civilians died and another 3500 were injured.
The cease-fire agreement was signed on 21 July 1992, and political negotiations for the Transnistrian conflict settlement were subsequently started.
According to a decision of the Parliament, 2 March was declared the Day of Remembrance, set up in memory of the fallen heroes in the battles of 1992.
