Chisinau, March 2. /MOLDPRES/- Managers of two companies were convicted of smuggling walnut kernels from the Republic of Moldova to Turkey, by using fictitious contracts with suppliers of goods.
According to PCCOCS, when the goods were exported, they presented certificates which later turned out to be false. Those certificates were the basis of the indication of Moldova as the country of origin of the exported walnuts for buyers from Turkey.
At the same time, in 2015, quantities of walnut kernels were also exported through the fraudulent use of another company's stamps.
Recently the magistrates sentenced one of the administrators to 2.6 years of suspended prison. As for the second manager, he is to serve a prison sentence of 1.6 years. At the same time, at the prosecutor's request, the court ordered the confiscation for the benefit of the state of the value of the contraband object, estimated at over 57 million lei (2.8 million euros). This amount is to be collected from the two defendants and from the legal entity.
