Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs commemorated the heroes of the Transnistria War by standing silent for one minute at a plenary meeting today.
In the beginning of the meeting, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said that the war at Dniester from 1992 had left a dark result in Moldova’s history and opened a wound which would never heal up. ‘’Hundreds of policemen, volunteers, ordinary people from all over Moldova answered the national call and went to Dniester to defend their Motherland. Unfortunately, everything occurred just on the day when the Republic of Moldova was accepted as United Nations member,’’ Grosu said.
The speaker conveyed words of gratitude to all those who had taken part in that events, including MPs of the present legislative period, who participated in the combat actions for the defence of Moldova’s territorial integrity and independence - Boris Marcoci, Valeriu Muduc, Boris Popa and Veaceslav Nigai, as well as those three employees of the parliament’s secretariat - Iurie Moscalu, Pavel Botnaru and Victor Chihai.
Moldova today marks 31 years since the beginning of the Transnistria War and also today the country marks the Memory and Gratitude Day.
