Chisinau, March 3. /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration sent a message yesterday on the 31st anniversary of the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations, the MAEIE press service has reported.

The message reads:

"Today we mark 31 years since the outbreak of the Transnistrian conflict and, on this occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to peace. It is symbolic that also on this day, in 1992, the Republic of Moldova became a member of the United Nations Organization, proving in this way its attachment to the principles of the UN Charter.

In recent decades, the situation in the Transnistrian region has remained stable, and we will continue to do everything to maintain this state of peace. We are making considerable efforts to ensure our stability and continue to demand the withdrawal of Russian troops and munitions that undermine our sovereignty.

The full-scale invasion of Ukraine a year ago represents a disturbing escalation of Russian tactics used in countries in the region. As an international community, it is imperative that we join forces to support."
