Moldova's Audiovisual Council ceases broadcasting licence of Orhei TV television station

Chisinau, 3 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Audiovisual Council (CA) today ruled not to extend the broadcasting licence of the Orhei TV television station.
According to CA, on 2 December 2022, Orhei TV was sanctioned with a fine worth 5,000 lei ‘’for the non-observance of the general Concept of the audiovisual media service.’’
At that time, CA recorded infringements at the following issues: ‘’own production’’ – 40 per cent established according to the Structure, 30.52 per cent identified according to monitoring’s findings; ‘’audiovisual productions of other producers’’ – 30 per cent established according to the Structure, 65.46 per cent identified according to the monitoring’s findings; ‘’rebroadcast/taken over/purchased programmes’’ – 30 per cent established according to the Structure, 0 per cent identified according to the monitoring’s findings; ‘’per cent reserved for European audiovisual works’’ – 52 per cent established according to the Structure, 42.25 per cent identified according to monitoring’s findings.
Following the infringements detected, the Audiovisual Council did not accept the request submitted by the Media Resources Ltd company on 15 February 2023 on the extension of the broadcasting licence for the Orhei TV audiovisual television media service, as a result of the expiration of its validity term.
