Moldovan government understands importance of tourism, opened to intervene for developing this sector

Chisinau, 3 March /MOLDPRES/ -Prime Minister Dorin Recean and members of the Employers’ Association of Tourism Industry from Moldova (APIT), led by Sergiu Manea, discussed measures of stimulating the development of tourism, seriously hit by the pandemic restrictions and Russia’s war against Ukraine, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

According to APIT representatives, the short-term measures for the re-launch of the native tourism regard the creation of a body of the specialty central public administration, improvement of the national framework in the field, optimization of the domestic and external financial instruments for the support and development of the tourism industry in Moldova.    

In the context, PM Dorin Recean noted that the government would intervene with the measures needed, in order to remove the legislative constraints. At the same time, the prime minister suggested the turning to good account of the potential of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), which provides both programmes and financial instruments of support for entrepreneurs, including in the tourism sector.    

„The government understands the importance of tourism and is open to intervene, through the programmes and instruments available, for the development of this sector. We will remove the current bureaucratic constraints, in order to de-block more financial assistance from abroad,’’ the PM said.    

The participants in the meeting referred also to the need to more extensively promote Moldova’s image as tourist destination internationally.
