Chisinau, 7 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) today donated a consignment of IT equipment worth 7.5 million lei (375,000 euros) to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) call centre.
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu thanked Moldova’s partners for the support provided to manage the refugees’ crisis. The official said that the call centre was one of the principal instruments used by the ministry to maintain the relations with the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Moldova from abroad and to meet the large number of applications for consular services, ‘’which quickly grew with the unleashing of the war in Ukraine.’’
„MAEIE has requested and received this generous donation worth 7.5 million lei for the modernization of our call centre. This will allow us enhancing the technical capacity of the call centre and back the transition to a modern, strategic and safe communication of our consular network,’’ the minister said.
The UNHCR representative in Moldova, Francesca Bonelli, is a small country, but rich in solidarity and humaneness.
The set of documents contains, in particular, computers, monitors, printers, sets of lights, microphones.
