Moldovan head of state pays visit to southern district

Chisinau, 7 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 6 March paid  a working visit to the southern Leova district, where she discussed with local residents problems from the district, as well as plans on Moldova’s development, despite the crises through which the country goes on this period, the presidential press service has reported.   

In the Leova town, the head of state met business people, with whom she discussed the problems they faced, as well as the state’s policies, meant to support those who create jobs at home. ‘’The economic development is our priority and the small companies can access cheaper loans within development programmes provided by the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development. I urged the entrepreneurs from Leova to use these instruments, in order to increase their businesses and create new jobs,’’ Maia Sandu said.    

In Filipeni, Maia Sandu listened to people’s problems and gave assurances that she did her utmost to preserve peace and stability. At the same time, the head of state also said that the development of settlements was a priority and the Filipeni village was an example in this respect. The Filipeni residents have aqueduct, extended with the help of the European financing and the GIZ German Agency, as well as street illumination, made with the contribution of native residents who settled abroad. A project on the digitalization of the teaching process at the local gymnasium has been recently financed within the European Village programme.    

At the same time, the head the Moldovan president made reference to the European Village programme, with the help of which the gymnasium was endowed with interactive tables and computers.  

La Tigheci, the head of state found more projects underway. An aqueduct is under construction in this commune and recently, with the assistance of Sweden, special technology has been purchased, which will help the local residents collect waste in special dustbins. Also, the Moldovan president reiterated that it was important to develop settlements with vision and referred to the commune’s urban plan, worked out within the European Village Programme.      

Also, Maia Sandu stressed that it was important that all Moldova’s communities flourish and all efforts should be focused on changing the lives of the people from villages and cities for the better.
