Moldovan PM meets local public authorities

Chisinau, March 9. /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean today started his working visit to Briceni district with a discussion with 25 mayors of the region, the Government's communication and potocol department has reported.

The official discussed with the local representatives the problem of the labor force, the quality of the roads, the lack of street lighting and aqueducts, waste management, public sector salaries, the endowment of social institutions and public spaces.

Recean referred to the importance of the full use of the financial sources available for the implementation of regional and local development projects, stressing that, last year, in the Briceni district, part of the money provided for in the budget was not used.

"We must have discipline in budget execution, so as not to be left with unused amounts. We need a flexible replanning mechanism, so that we can adjust more quickly, by reallocating financial resources", said Recean.

Recean referred to the need to help officials in writing projects financed by external partners. "Our country has access to several resources intended for localities in the Republic of Moldova, but in order to benefit from them, we must submit sustainable projects. The process of writing projects is very important - it depends on a discipline of organizing our activity and goals that we pursue for the benefit of the people", he said.

According to Recean, another opportunity for the development of localities is the European Village program, launched by the Government, as well as the use of twinning projects with localities in Romania, where there is openness for joint projects, but also the opportunity to take over the experience in writing and accessing European projects.

"Sustainable development, ensuring access to quality public services and support for the business environment are priorities for the Executive", said Recean.
