Chisinau, March 9. /MOLDPRES/- MAEIE organized a public debate on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, which was attended by President Maia Sandu and a group of ministers and secretaries of state responsible for European affairs from Austria, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Lithuania and Romania, the MAEIE press service has reported.

"We discussed the benefits and challenges of Moldova's accession to the EU, the progress achieved in one year since the submission of the application for accession and the priorities for 2023.

The discussion, supported by the UN Agency for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (UN Women) highlighted the contributions of women in the processes of modernization and European integration, gender equality being one of the values that underpin the EU", said Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu.

President Maia Sandu said that the Republic of Moldova can survive as a democracy only by being a member of the EU, and we are working intensively to bring that day closer when our country will be part of the European family.
