Moldovan deputy premier meets several ambassadors accredited to Moldova

Chisinau, March 10. /MOLDPRES/- This week, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration met with Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Moldova, residing in Bucharest Roelof van Ees on the end of his diplomatic mission in Chisinau, the MAEIE press service has reported.

"I thanked the Dutch diplomat for his contribution to the development of our bilateral relationship. The Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of the Netherlands have close political-diplomatic relations and an intense dialogue within regional and international organizations. We also referred to the intensification of Dutch trade and investment in our country's economy.

We want to expand our cooperation in the economic diplomacy, on which occasion we support the programs aimed at increasing the volume of trade between our countries", said Popescu.

The officials also discussed the opening of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Chisinau in May, this decision will increase our bilateral contacts and strengthen our partnership on Moldova's accession to the EU.

"We also referred to the organization by our country, on June 1, of the European Political Community summit, an additional proof of our commitment to contribute to a peaceful and stable Europe.

We wished Mr. Roelof van Ees successes in his further diplomatic activity and expressed the hope that he will remain a close friend of our country", said Popescu.

Also, Popescu met with Raja Jhinaoui Ben Ali, ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the Republic of Moldova, residing in Bucharest.

"During the meeting, I reiterated Moldova's interest in advancing Moldovan-Tunisian relations to a new level in areas of mutual interest, such as political dialogue, commercial-economic cooperation, tourism and interpersonal contacts.

We also discussed the opportunity of opening a consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Tunisia, and the conclusion of a collaboration agreement between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the similar institution in Tunisia.

Ambassador Raja Jhinaoui Ben Ali assured that she is willing to continue to support Moldovan-Tunisian cooperation on various levels, including within international bodies and the International Organization of La Francophonie. In this context, I thanked for the successful organization of the 43rd Francophonie Ministerial Conference, which took place in Djerba, Tunisia.

The Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Tunisia are French-speaking countries, a dimension that unites us around the idea of solidarity and European values, and which we want to use through intercultural dialogue and friendship between our states", the Moldovan official said.
