Moldovan citizens can access European funds for community development

Chisinau, March 10. /MOLDPRES/- Citizens living on both sides of the external borders of the EU, including from the Republic of Moldova, will be able to benefit from support for the development of health services, education, research and programs for social inclusion and professional training, through the European programs NEXT 2021-2027.

The Interreg NEXT cooperation programs for 2021-2027 have an allocation of 1.1 billion euros from the European Regional Development Fund, the neighborhood instrument, development cooperation and international cooperation, international development and cooperation and the pre-accession assistance instrument.

The EU's cooperation programs with neighboring regions include 184 regions with 260 million inhabitants in 33 countries established along the EU's external borders. These programs support economic and social development through joint actions, including in environmental protection, public health services, good governance cooperation and safer borders, connectivity, support for SMEs and entrepreneurship.

Thus, the Interreg NEXT Romania - Moldova 2021-2027 has a budget of 77.3 million euros, to which is added the co-financing of the participating states. The funded projects will benefit communities on both sides of the border, including the entire territory of Moldova, in order to improve education, healthcare and nature conservation.

The Republic of Moldova has the opportunity to implement common projects also within the Danube Region Program 2021-2027. It aims to support the development and implementation of cooperation projects, which contribute to the development of a more innovative, sustainable and socially inclusive region.
