Moldova creates conditions needed for education of children from Ukrainian refugees' families

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) on 10 March hosted the Delegation of the Ad Hoc Committee on Migration of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA). The delegation is on a fact-collecting visit to Moldova on the situation of the refugees from Ukraine.   

„ The Education and Research Ministry, along with development partners, do their utmost to provide quality education and opportunities of integration into the society, in a friendly environment, for all children of the families who took refuge from Ukraine,’’ a state secretary at MEC, Adriana Cazacu, said.  

To cope with the refugees’ crisis, decision-makers identified the education institutions which can integrate children refugees from Ukraine, elaborated the concerned normative acts and the materials of support on children’s integration. 

At the same time, with the support of the development partners, financial means were allocated for the nourishment of the children refugees. Through the ministry’s efforts, the school-leaving and admission examinations were organized online, conditions were created for children for the summer leisure in camps, courses of Romanian language were organized, psychologists were consulted, participation in activities of children’s centres was organized.   

Presently, 1,179 children refugees are integrated in the general education system of Moldova, who study at 227 institutions. At the same time, 708 children attend those 222 kindergartens proposed for the Ukrainian children.
