Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian today had a meeting with Russia’s Permanent Representative at OSCE, Ambassador Aleksandr Lukashevich and Russia’s Special Representative in the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement, Ambassador Vitaly Tryapitsyn, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

The subjects for discussion were the current situation in the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement, topical subjects on the dialogue’s agenda, Chisinau’s position on them and the national authorities’ positive actions in relation with the residents from Moldova’s Transnistrian region.

Deputy PM Oleg Serebrian reiterated that, given that the activity in the 5+2 format of negotiations was in a long-lasting deadlock in the wake of the war in Ukraine, the sides maintained the interaction on the platform of dialogue of the political representatives, sectoral working groups and of the Joint Control Commission. Serebrian noted that, within these platforms, Tiraspol exaggeratedly politicized most issues and did not contribute to their overcoming, from the viewpoint of the interests of the residents on both banks of Dniester and removing the artificial obstacles.

The Moldovan deputy PM evoked the need to avoid the useless hotbeds of tension, edify an ambiance of security and predictability, give up statements which spread uncertainty and panic in the public opinion. Tiraspol must accept a constructive dialogue, meant to lead to the country’s reintegration, to the settlement of the citizens’ economic and social problems and the reestablishment of the rule of law state on the left bank of Dniester.

Also, Oleg Serebrian voiced hope that Russia would not limit the mandate of work of the OSCE Mission in Moldova and would further support the formula of peaceful and final settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with the observance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, within its borders recognized by the international community.

„Moldova speaks out for the unconditional observance of the principle of the inviolability of the borders, laid down in the Helsinki Final Act. Other sustainable and legal solutions to the conflicts from the today’s Europe cannot exist. The unconditional observance of the internationally recognized borders, peaceful settlement of the litigations between states and the observance of the rights of the ethnic, linguistic and confessional  minorities, in full accordance with the rigours of the Council of Europe and OSCE – these are the principles we should be guided by. The peace and stability in Europe cannot be reestablished and preserved without the observance of these principles,’’ Deputy PM Serebrian added.
