Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s European agenda, as well as the strengthening of the Moldovan-Latvian bilateral dialogue have been discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean with members of a parliamentary delegation of Latvia, led by Speaker of Saeima Edvards Smiltēns, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The officials exchanged opinions on the security situation in the region and the challenges felt by Moldova’s citizens since the beginning of Russia’s war against Ukraine. Against the background of the security challenges, PM Dorin Recean stressed that the state’s institutions were constantly involved in ensuring the peace and security.

„Our country’s accession to EU is the only chance for the Moldovans to have a good live, in peace with decent salaries and living conditions. We enjoy the support of the EU states, including of Latvia; at the same time, we continue the ambitious agenda of reforms,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

The PM also referred to Moldova’s investment opportunities and expressed openness for the deepening of the Moldovan-Latvian commercial and economic relations.

Speaker of Latvia’s Saeima Edvards Smiltēns reconfirmed the Latvian authorities’ support for Moldova’s European integration. ‘’We want a prosperous future in the European family with Moldova,’’ the Latvian official stressed.
