Second EU-Moldova High-Level Political and Security Dialogue held in Brussels

Chisinau, 24 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu, along with a delegation from Moldova, participated in the second EU-Moldova High-Level Political and Security Dialogue, held in Brussels, after its launch in Chisinau on 18 March 2022, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.       

In his speech, Foreign Affairs Minister Nicu Popescu referred to the steps made by Moldova in its European integration and unveiled the measures undertaken by the authorities to counteract the threats faced and the attempts of several actors to destabilize the situation in Moldova. The participants in the event also discussed the regional security, in the context of Russia’s aggression war against Ukraine and the consolidation of Moldova’s resilience.     

„I stressed the importance of the assistance from which we benefit through the European Peace Facility (EPF) – an EU’s instrument, the goal of which is to preserve peace, strengthen the international security and prevent conflicts, with EU’s investment for Moldova’s resilience and security being and investment for the European peace and security. In the last year, our country has proved that we deserve our place in the great European family, with our solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the processes of strategic reformation inside the country being appreciated by the entire international community.       

I thanked the foreign partners for every assistance provided in the last years and highlighted that we further rely on the support of the EU institutions and member states, including as regards the financial assistance, investments’ attraction, consolidation of the Moldova – EU hub for domestic security and borders’ management, as well as the importance of detaching to Moldova of a civil mission with mandate of counseling within the Common Security and Defence Policy,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.   

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu pays a working visit to Brussels on 23-24 March.
