Sanitation system in Călăraşi modernized with EU help

Chisinau, March 28 /MOLDPRES/- A project to improve water supply and sewage services was completed in Calarasi. A work evaluation meeting was held at the city hall yesterday.

The meeting participants approached measures to ensure the sustainability of investments. Thus, the specialists of the Center Regional Development Agency (ADR) will monitor the project within five years from the moment of signing the transfer documents certifying the investment cost of the goods, works and services.

"Thanks to this project, the aqueduct, 15.9 km and sewerage, 4.9 km networks were rehabilitated and extended in Călărași. Through the 875 potable water connections and 234 new connections to the sewage system, 14,000 city residents benefit from improved public services", indicates ADR Center.

The project's value is about 1.5 million euros, of which approximately 1.4 million are offered as a non-refundable grant by the European Union, and almost 174 thousand euros - the contribution of the Călărași town hall.

The investment measure Improving water supply and sewerage services in Călărași was financed by the EU and implemented by ADR Center and the project Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova.
