Night frost of -6 Celsius degrees expected in Moldova

Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has informed about a Yellow Code of frost for 30 March.

According to meteorologists, on 30 March night and morning, frost of -1 - -6 Celsius degrees is expected.

„The spring frost poses danger, first of all, to the fruit growing sector and less for the field crops. The risks are minimal, especially if farmers observe the technologies and the terms of sowing and only in rare cases, when frost appears quite lately, the field crops are hit at a high level,’’ sources of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry have told MOLDPRES.

Specialists in agriculture said that the frost can create problems where farmers take unjustified risks and hurry without taking into account the local weather conditions. Springs are unpredictable in Moldova and the heavy snowfall from 21-22 April 2017 proved this to the utmost.
