Chisinau, March 30 /MOLDPRES/- The head of the Giurgiulesti Border Inspection Post of ANSA and 10 subordinates were detained today by the CNA in a corruption case.
According to CNA, the anti-corruption officers and prosecutors carried out this morning searches at the Giurgiulesti Border Inspection Post (PIF) of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) within the framework of some files, started on passive corruption facts. Following the prosecution actions, 11 ANSA employees were detained for 72 hours, suspected of having charged illegal payments from various economic agents for facilitating the transit of goods.
Thus, PIF Giurgiulesti employees would have demanded and accepted sums of money, in different currencies, from transporters of animal and vegetable products in order not to subject them to sanitary-veterinary checks. In exchange for the illicit payments, the officials would have facilitated the introduction of various products into the country in the absence of permissive acts.
