Law enforcers seized thousands of dollars and euros following Giurgiulesti raids

Chisinau, March 31 /MOLDPRES/- Following the searches carried out yesterday at the headquarters of the Giurgiulești Border Inspection Post (PIF) of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), the anti-corruption prosecutors collected from the 11 suspects about 13,625 euros, 1,320 dollars, 148,000 lei , 5,300 Romanian lei, 30,600 hryvnias, 1,000 British pounds, 760 Turkish pounds and 1,200 Russian rubles.

According to CNA, also following the raids, the mobile phones of the suspects were taken, as well as more computer equipment.

Today, the anti-corruption prosecutors are going to submit actions by which they will request the preventive arrest of the 11 detained people.

Yesterday, the officers of the General Territorial Directorate (DGT) South of the CNA and the prosecutors of the South Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office carried out searches at the Giurgiulești Border Inspection Post of ANSA, as part of cases initiated on facts of passive corruption. Following the prosecution actions, 11 ANSA employees were detained for 72 hours, suspected of having charged illegal payments from various economic agents for facilitating the transit of goods.
