Chisinau, 5 April /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union today provided Moldova with a grant of 10 million euros. Another 40 million euros will be provided to the country as loan in early next May. The money is part of the macro-financial assistance, worth 150 million euros, provided to Moldova. An announcement to this effect was made on the official page of the European Commission today.

A press release by the European Commission reads that the money is offered after ‘’Moldova fulfilled all conditions agreed upon with EU for the issuance of this payment.’’

„Moldova has consolidated the governance of the public sector, with actions undertaken to improve the management of public investments projects. The government made progress as regards the governance of the financial sector, through the adoption of a new strategy of public money’s management. The Moldovan authorities made headway also as to the strengthening of the rule of law state. The parliament adopted also a new programme on the recovery of crime goods,’’ the communique also reads.

The European Commission says that the support will help Moldova approach its urgent needs of financing and back the general macro-economic stability, allowing, at the same time, comprehensive and ambitious reforms.

The first installment worth 50 million euros of the EU’s macro-financial assistance was provided by EU to Moldova in August 2022.
