Ensuring gender equality, promotion of policies to back women's social, economic empowerment discussed at Moldova's government

Chisinau, 2 May /MOLDPRES/ - The ensuring of the gender equality, promotion of policies to back the social and economic empowerment of women, combating the domestic violence, encouraging young women to assume active roles in diverse sectors, beginning with the access to a proper education, including in technical, scientific and financial fields, were discussed at a today’s meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Representative of UN Women in Moldova Dominika Stojanoska, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

The PM stressed the importance of the organization’s close partnership with Moldova’s authorities for concrete jointly implemented projects, for the development of programmes with role of social and economic empowerment of women, which are to allow women fulfill their potential and for the involvement in the promotion of the European agenda.    

„The support of women to get involved in the public life, in the business sector and in the professional life should be permanent,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

UN Women Country Representative Dominika Stojanoska referred to the organization’s areas of work, actions undertaken so far, as well as set forth their plans for future, which will allow women living and working without constraints. Dominika Stojanoska also touched upon the programmes on which her team worked along with the competent ministries. The programmes’ goal is to encourage women to start businesses, enhance their economic resilience and actively get involved in diplomacy.
