MP Marina Tauber to be on home arrest for 20 days period

Chisinau, 2 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Court, Ciocana headquarters, today evening ordered the replacing of the preventive measure of release under judicial control by the home arrest against MP Marina Tauber for a period of 20 days.  

On 1 May morning, lawmaker Marina Tauber was detained at the Chisinau International Airport, while she was going to get onboard a plane bound for Tel Aviv, Israel, via Istanbul, Turkey. The ground for the detaining was an ordinance by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA), for reasons that the accused person infringed the conditions provided for by the preventive measures enforced against her.   

On 28 April, PA submitted an approach to the investigating judge for the replacing of the preventive measure of temporary release under judicial control by preventive arrest, on grounds that Tauber violated the conditions of the preventive measures. Also on 28 April, the lawyer of the accused person received a copy of the approach. On 29 April, Tauber asked for postponing the court session, to be able to travel to Israel. ‘’Considering that the accused person has already repeatedly infringed the conditions imposed by judges, prosecutors deemed as necessary for the accused MP to be detained at the airport, as there is a considerable risk for the accused person to evade the criminal prosecution body,’’ the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said.
