Moldova, Japan to negotiate agreement to promote and protect investments

Chisinau, May 3 /MOLDPRES/- Following a proposal of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization, the cabinet approved the initiation of negotiations on an agreement for mutual promotion and protection of investments, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The signing of the document will contribute to the development of economic relations between our countries, facilitate foreign investments and boost capital flows. Also, once signed, the agreement proposed for negotiation will ensure the mutual protection of investments.

"The conclusion of this agreement represents a mutual commitment to the development and consolidation of economic cooperation. Japan is a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova. We have a good potential for collaboration that can be fully used by strengthening the dialogue between our countries", said Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba.

The document is concluded for a period of ten years and is automatically extended for successive five- year periods.
