Moldovan diplomacy head meets group of French senators

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, has discussed with a group of French senators, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.   

The officials discussed Moldova’s European integration path and the significant progress made in this field, described in the country’s contribution to the EU’s Enlargement Report. On this occasion, Nicu Popescu thanked the French senators for the firm support of Moldova’s European aspirations and voiced hope that the negotiations on accession to EU would be launched in the nearest future.   

„We also referred to the boosting of the inter-parliamentary dialogue between our countries and emphasized the importance of the cooperation for the exchange of good practices, so that we bring Moldova as close to the EU’s standards as possible.     

I stressed the intense cooperation carried out bilaterally and the significant contribution the French partners bring to Moldova’s development, through the implementation of more projects with the support of the French Development Agency in the energy sector, railway infrastructure, forestry, etc. I ascertained the importance of the collaboration in the fight with corruption and carrying out the justice reform, with the expertise and the good practices of France being quite useful for the competent institutions from Chisinau,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu added.
