Anniversary exhibition by Moldovan drawer inaugurated at Chisinau-based museum

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of drawing, dedicated to the 100th birthday anniversary of a departed drawer, Ilie Bogdesco, was inaugurated at the National Art Museum of Moldova today.     

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the director of the aforementioned museum, Tudor Zbarnea, said the exhibition comprised 62 drawing and painting works. ‘’We tried to show Ilie Bogdesco as a great illustrator. He illustrated over 100 books. He is one of the greatest drawers,’’ Zbarnea noted.        

Ilie Bogdesco was born in the Butuceni village, Rabnita district, on 20 April 2023. He graduated from the I. Repin Institute of Picture, Sculpture and Architecture from St. Petersburg, Russia. As of 1953, the fine artist worked in Chisinau; he held the office of head of the Fine Artists Union from Soviet Moldova. Starting from 1941, Bogdesco participated in numerous exhibitions in the country and abroad. In 1975, he was elected corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the Soviet Union.  During 1955-1988, the drawer staged numerous personal exhibitions in Bulgaria, France, Moldova, Russia, Baltic Countries, Ukraine, etc.  

Ilie Bogdesco was awarded numerous distinctions in the USSR, in Moldova at international exhibitions. The fine artist passed away in St. Petersburg on 30 March 2010.    

The exhibition will be opened till 18 June.
