Raids at Chisinau city hall on case of embezzlement of external funds intended for refugees

Chisinau, May 4. /MOLDPRES/- Anti-corruption officers and prosecutors are today carrying out criminal prosecution actions in a case of embezzlement of foreign funds intended for refugees.

National Anticorruption Center's spokesperson Angela Starinschi made the statement . "We are at several addresses in the capital, including public persons within the General Directorate of Medical and Social Assistance of the Chisinau Municipal Council," said Starinschi.

Following the searches, mayor Ion Ceban came up with a reaction. "My colleagues are being persecuted and harassed. The masks came today to the Head of the Health Directorate, Boris Gîlca, and to other employees. I have always advocated for the fact that people should be called to come forward to say what they know without show-to-order. The recent financial inspection at Patria LukOil did not find any violations and came only with recommendations, because there is an electronic register, this has also been checked, and there are cameras that monitor," wrote Ion Ceban on a social network.
