Labor market reform: Work permits to be eliminated for citizens of several countries

Chisinau, May 4. /MOLDPRES/- The labor market in the Republic of Moldova will be reformed, and work permits will be eliminated for citizens of several countries who want to work in the Republic of Moldova. The proposals are set in a legislative initiative presented today by Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the legislative initiative provides that in addition to the 18 categories of foreigners, who according to the legislation can already work in the Republic of Moldova, citizens from the 27 EU member states, as well as countries such as the USA, Great Britain, Norway, Switzerland, Japan, Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, states from the Balkans and other states in our region with which Moldova has a greater commercial and investment potential than is currently used.

"When an investor comes to launch a business in the Republic of Moldova, he does not have to start his journey by applying for a work permit at the Migration and Asylum Office. And if this person also wants to come with a team that they can immediately hire here to launch their business, they need to be able to do it quickly, easily and without red tape. When a Moldovan company wants to hire expertise from abroad, the work permit should not be an impediment", Alaiba pointed out.

According to the deputy prime minister, the proposed reform will contribute to stimulating employment in the labor field and will increase the flow of investments in our country.
