Chisinau, May 4. /MOLDPRES/- Bicolor ribbon and other symbols of Russian military aggression in Ukraine are banned in the Republic of Moldova. The head of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), Viorel Cernăuțeanu, made the warning today in the context of the events dedicated to 9 May.

Cernăuțeanu said that under the legislation, it is prohibited to make, keep, sell and wear the elements and symbols used in the acts of aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. "The display of symbols creates an eminent danger of threat to national security. We urge citizens to comply with legal requirements and not fall prey to the challenges of certain individuals. Every case of violation of the law will be investigated. During the demonstrations, the police will be present to ensure the safety of the citizens", he said.

“If the bicolor ribbon is a component part of a distinction that has been awarded, it is considered as a distinction and used as a distinction. When it comes to the attached separate ribbon, then it represents the symbolism of military aggression and is prohibited", he said.

For violating the legal provisions, private people risk a fine from 4,500 to 9,000 lei, responsible persons - from 9,000 to 18,000 lei and legal entities from 18,000 to 30,000 lei.
