Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet will extend its cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in order to fulfill the priorities of backing the local communities of Moldova, improve the public communication as to the government’s initiatives for people’s benefit, strengthen the energy sector and ensure the economic growth, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

These priorities have been established at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Director for the U.S. Agency for International Development's (USAID) Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) in the Bureau of Conflict Prevention and Stabilization Brittany Brown, adviser of the USAID Administrator Samantha Power Michael Camilleri and U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Kent Logsdon.

The PM appreciated the consistent support of the United States through all projects aimed at Moldova’s modernization, which help the country in consolidating the democracy, edifying a resilient society and stimulating the economic growth. In the context, Prime Minister Dorin Recean reiterated that the boosting of the economy and the creation of a friendly entrepreneurial climate represented the principal goal of the government. The PM stressed that Moldova remained a safe destination for investments, despite the present regional situation.

According to the prime minister, the authorities focus on the providing of new financial instruments, which will facilitate the extension of business and the opening of new jobs. These goals are contained also in the 373 governmental programme for backing entrepreneurs, recently launched, in order to subsidize the interests on loans borrowed by enterprises for investment needs. At the same time, the cabinet continuously works for the digital transformation, including for the services provided by the private sector.

The sides also discussed the importance to strengthen the strategic communication, in order to counteract the hybrid threats, especially the ones dealing with propagenda and misinformation. At the same time, the officials referred to the bilateral cooperation in the security, defence, home affairs fields, as well as in the sectors of the economy, such as rural tourism, information technologies and agriculture’s industrialization.
