Chisinau, May 5 /MOLDPRES/- Yesterday, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) held the last talks with the World Bank on signing the Loan Agreement regarding the AGGRI project (Governance, Economic Growth and Resilience).

The project will support the national authorities' efforts to improve the standard of living and work in the countryside, to strengthen the resilience of the agricultural sector as well as to increase the incomes of farmers. "Investment grants of 21 million dollars will be awarded to boost initiatives to promote and develop the livestock sector. The business environment will be fostered to set new model dairy farms, modernize existing holdings to increase productivity, improve product quality and reduce environmental impact," MAIA said.

The money is also granted for aligning with the requirements of the Community market and increasing access to the EU shelves.

To increase the productivity of agricultural crops and protect agricultural land from floods, another 25 million dollars will be directed to the rehabilitation of the primary and secondary irrigation infrastructure. Around 6.5 million dollars are planned for strengthening the capacities of AIPA and ANSA, as well as for providing support for the establishment of the Agricultural Consultancy Center and Veterinary Excellence Centers. About 2.5 million dollars will be used for project management, according to the quoted source.

The project is a financing program for the agricultural sector by 2029.
