Chisinau, 5 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Energocom stock company, on the period May 2022 – January 2023, purchased about 600 million cubic metres of gas, at the weighted average price of 88.21 euros/MWh or 928.96 euros per 1,000 cubic metres. As much as 480 million out of the all gas bought was non-Russian gas. Presently, Moldova still has about 150 million cubic metres of gas in stocks. The figures were unveiled by the Energocom acting director, Victor Banzari. He provided data on the natural gas procured in the last year with the loan provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and following instructions by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE).

Victor Bânzari noted when namely the procurements had been made, in the context of the fluctuations on the gas market and who were member of the acquisition group. ‘’Through the EBRD loan, representatives of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), Service for the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering participated in 98 per cent of the rounds held, civil society’s representatives were invited and those who wanted to monitor the process were able to do this,’’ Victor Banzari noted.

For this month, Energocom sold to Moldovagaz gas at the price of 672 dollars for 1,000 cubic metres, ‘’a price which is slightly lower than the one provided by Gazprom,’’ Banzari said. ‘’Now, it is easy to give opinion whether in last November Moldova needed a certain quantity of gas and how opportune the price was,’’ Victor Banzari said.

The Energocom head specified that at present the enterprise did not make procurements of gas, but only analyzes the market’s supply, so that afterwards a decision is approved on the procurements of gas for the next season.

Victor Banzari also said that 2022 had been the first year when Energocom had made transactions of gas, achieving more first-ever events for the energy market of Moldova, including by the use of the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau pipeline, the revers regime Trans-Balkan route and the interconnector between Greece and Bulgaria.
