European Village: street lighting networks built in three localities

Chisinau, May 6. /MOLDPRES/- Three localities from the Republic of Moldova benefited from funding of about four million lei (200 thousand euros) from the Government under the European Village Program. Public street lighting networks were built.

The first project was completed in Cuhurestii de Jos village, Florești district. Over 15 km of public lighting network were built in the locality. Thus, around a thousand inhabitants will have comfort when they move through the streets during the night. The cost of the project reaches 954 thousand lei.

Residents of the village of Pârlița, Făleşti, are beneficiaries of the modernized public lighting system. In the locality, over 22 km of public lighting network were built with 1.5 million lei.

"The lighting system must primarily respond to the needs of the modern life of the population. A high-performance public lighting system is the calling card of a town at night. In addition to the feeling of safety, the light can offer a different, much better and pleasant image of the village", said Mihail Croitoru, director of the National Office for Regional and Local Development (ONDLR).

So far, public lighting systems have been installed in 27 localities in the country, out of the total of 43 similar projects approved for financing through the European Village Program.
