Several searches carried out in voter corruption case

Chisinau, May 7. /MOLDPRES/- The officers of the National Anti-corruption Center (CNA), together with the anti-corruption prosecutors and the employees of the National Investigation Inspectorate conducted several criminal prosecution actions today in a file on corruption of voters by the representatives of a political formation in order to determine them to vote for a electoral competitor in the elections from Gagauzia. The CNA noted that no person was detained.

The law enforcement officers "found that in March-till now, an electoral competitor and his initiative group allegedly accepted financial means from an organized criminal group, which were and are being used for the illegal remuneration of activists involved in the electoral campaign for the election of Gagauzia governor, as well as for determining voters to vote for the formation's candidate". "From the evidence administered, it was established that for the determination of a number of 30 voters to vote for the candidacy of the Shor party, each activist was paid with 15,000 lei", stated CNA.

Searches were carried out at the homes, cars and offices of the Comrat and Vulcăneşti, targeting ten people.
