Protest held in Chisinau

Chisinau, May 7. /MOLDPRES/- A protest rally was held today in the center of Chisinau. The police found several violations.

The protest was organized by the Movement for the People, which also includes the Shor Party. Protesters gathered in front of Parliament and chanted slogans against the government and called for snap elections.

The General Police Inspectorate said that 27 people who had suspicious behavior were taken to the Police headquarters for identification. Four of them told the law enforcement officers that they came to the meeting to be paid. At the same time, the police found flammable substances on some participants in the meeting, with which the protesters intended, according to their statements, "to set fire to certain objects". Prohibited objects were also found on a minor.

A journalist filed a complaint with the police stating that he "suffered during the meeting, being hit with an object by the protesters".

Some participants wore the bicolor ribbon, which the police warned is prohibited in the Republic of Moldova.

For the time being, the number of people participating in the protest has not been announced.
