Europe Day to be marked in Moldova by string of events till late May

Chisinau, 8 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Europe Day 2023 will be marked through a string of cultural, interactive and educational events in various regions of Moldova. They will take place during all the May month and will be titled, EU-Moldova: Stronger Together. The actions will highlight the European Union’s values and culture, as well as the assistance provided by EU and its member states for the benefit of Moldova’s citizens.    

„The Europe Day is a day of celebrating the peace and unity all over Europe. As the first anniversary of the ‘’status of country candidate for EU’’ is nearing, we congratulate the Moldovans on their country having chosen the European way. The way of reforms for the intangibility of the human dignity, the way of observance of the fundamental freedoms of its citizens. Moldova has chosen the democracy and rule of law state. In the spirt of solidarity, we invite all Moldovans to join us in the events dedicated to the Europe Day from all over the country; we are stronger together!,’’ European Union’s Ambassador to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks said.  

This year, the traditional European Town will be opened for the public in Chisinau and Leova. In the capital, the European Town will be organized on the Great National Assembly Square on 13 May; in the evening, the event will be followed by a concert given by more bands.    

The citizens from southern Moldova will be able to take part in the European Town event in the centre of the Leova city on 20 May. The event will culminate with a concert by a band from Galati, Romania, invited by the Romanian Embassy in Moldova and the Chisinau Romanian Cultural Institute, as well as the Zdob și Zdub band of Moldova.   

The European cuisine will be present in the European Town from both settlements; they will also host a string of cultural and interactive activities for everybody, including children.  

Events to mark Europe Day 2023 will be organized in Cahul, Ungheni, Balti, etc., in cooperation with projects financed by EU, with local public settlements and the network of Euro-clubs and European Information Centres from all over the country.   

The traditional Festival of European Film and Culture will take place in different settlements of Moldova, including villages and cities, on 11-31 May.
