Chisinau, 9 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean today morning laid flowers at the Eternity Memorial Complex, in order to commemorate the people who had died in the World War II.
„We are here to commemorate the tens of millions of people who were killed during the Second World War. We honour the memory of the heroes who made the supreme sacrifice, who gave their lives, in order to save other lives. We celebrate the Peace Day. We commemorated and honoured all people who had died for peace. The people whom we commemorate today gave their lives for their children and grandchildren to live in peace. Because of this war from the neighbour country, we understood how important the peace is and how important is that we do our utmost to maintain peace,’’ Maia Sandu said.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said that, ‘’unfortunately, the mankind has not learned its lesson as yet,’’ as we have another war in the neighbourhood of our country. ‘’This is a day of commemoration. Today we must remember our grandfathers, who went, fought, lost their lives, got to be mutilated by this cataclysm of the last century. Unfortunately, the mankind has not learned its lesson as yet and so, at a distance from that war, we still have a war near us. A day must come, when the mankind should think once again how many lives must be sacrificed for the ambition of dictators,’’ Speaker Igor Grosu stressed.
MPs, ministers, veterans, their relatives and friends, Chisinau residents and guests of the capital participated in the ceremony held at the Eternity Memorial Complex.
