Prosecutor evaluation mechanism to be improved

Chisinau, May 10. /MOLDPRES/- Members of the legal commission on rules and immunities today approved the report for a draft law, aimed at improving the mechanism of selection, evaluation and disciplinary liability of prosecutors.

The legislative initiative was set up by the Ministry of Justice and aims to strengthen the independence of the Inspectorate of Prosecutors and its transfer from the subordination of the General Prosecutor's Office to the subordination of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP); the merger of the Board for the selection and career of prosecutors and the Board for evaluating the performance of prosecutors in order to strengthen the mechanisms for the selection and evaluation of the performance of prosecutors; revision of the CSP composition.

The draft law will be proposed for consideration to the parliament.
